Protecting the privacy of MBBA members (hereafter called "members") and guests who may stay in our members' B&B's (hereafter called "guests") is fundamental to the way the MBBA performs its business. The following policy deals only with personal information, i.e. information about an identifiable individual, that may be held and used by the MBBA. The MBBA reserves the right to update this policy periodically.

Purposes for Collecting Personal Information
The MBBA may collect personal information from members or guests for the purposes of:
The MBBA will not use personal information for any other purpose than those identified at the time of collection of the information.
- Administering MBBA membership and providing member services,
- Registering members for MBBA events such as annual general meetings
- Contacting guests to inform them of left articles, emergency changes in reservations, special MBBA programs, offerings, prizes, etc.
- Processing credit card payments for guests
- Processing and administering the above or
- for other purposes as necessary.
Limits for Collecting, Using, Disclosing and Keeping Personal Information
The MBBA does not collect, use or disclose personal information of individuals except when individuals give consent and provide the information on a voluntary basis. There may be occasions where more specific personal information is necessary for the MBBA to proceed with a request for information, or provide the member with a product or service. In such cases, the MBBA will provide the member with a description of the information needed. In all cases, the MBBA limits the amount and type of information collected to only the personal information that is required to provide the individual with the requested information or service. We collect only information that is voluntarily provided by the member or guest and undertake that such information will be kept strictly confidential. The MBBA will retain personal information only as long as is necessary to provide the member or guest with the requested service or information, and delete or destroy this information after that time. In some cases, however, legal reporting and retention requirements necessitate that the MBBA retain information for a specific amount of time. In general, the MBBA retains information for a period not longer than two years.
Accuracy of and Access to Personal Information Collected

The MBBA respects the privacy of our members, guests, and website visitors and will endeavour to protect that privacy. The contact information for our members is not protected, indeed it is advertised in many formats by the MBBA as a service to its members. The MBBA stores any other electronic personal information securely. Security measures include firewalls, encryption, email address cloaking, and restricted access to electronic records. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, the MBBA cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information transmitted to us or received by us electronically. This is especially true for information members or guests transmit to us via e-mail. The MBBA has no way of protecting that information until it reaches us. Once the MBBA receives members' or guests' transmissions, the MBBA makes every reasonable effort to ensure its security on its computers.
Any questions or comments about the MBBA's handling of personal information should be directed to its privacy officer. To make a request, please send a letter or email addressed to our Privacy Officer at the address indicated above. In your request, please include the following information: "Name, contact details, the nature of your request, including whether you wish to view and/or edit information or inquire regarding use and/or disclosure". The MBBA will reply to your request no later than sixty days after receipt of the request, or if we are not able to respond within this time period, we will send you a notice of extension. If we are not able to disclose all the personal information we hold on you, we will give you a reason for our inability to do so, unless prohibited by law.
